Howard Phillips Lovecraft with boyhood friend Harold Munroe.  Around 1902, when Lovecraft attended the Slater Avenue school he made friends with the brothers Chester Pierce Munroe and Harold Bateman Munroe.  Chester also joined the United Amateur.  Harold would later become a Deputy Sheriff in Providence.  Lovecraft remained friendly with both for most of his life.
