Baudelaire

Charles Pierre Baudelaire (1821-1867), the French poet, is mentioned in a couple of stories. A man who claimed to be torn between God and Satan, his work and life reflected a world of death, decay, and joyless carnality. He is best known for his banned volume of poetry "Fleurs du Mal" ("Flowers of Evil", 1857) and his self-analytical "Les Paradis Artificiel" (1860).
