Milton, (-)

John Milton (1608-1674), English poet and prose writer. Best known for his epic poem Paradise Lost (1667), which is mentioned in "Dagon," and its lesser companion piece "Paradise Regained" (1671). In its twelve cantos Paradise Lost tells of Adam's fall in the context of cosmic drama and profound speculations concerning the nature and destiny of man. It is a good source for the hierarchy of the Christian gods and demons.
