Phillips, Ward

Most likely the author of "The Silver Key" which concerned Randolph Carter's Dreamworld existence and claimed Randolph Carter, after his disappearance, became the king of Ilek-Vad.  He fought Carter's cousin, Aspinwell, for four years over the estate and attended the final meeting  in New Orleans.  He was a lean, grey, long-nosed, clean shaven, stoop-shouldered man from Providence.  [According to Lin Carter in Lovecraft: A Look Behind the Mythos, this was an early pen name of Lovecraft's based on the middle of his own name "Howard Phillips Lovecraft."  Several pieces of his amateur work were signed thus, including the poem "Astrophobos," published in 1918.]
