Roulet, Jacques

A historical figure purported to be a werewolf in Caude, France near Angers.  He was captured, half dressed, covered with blood and shreds of flesh, after two wolves were thought to have killed a fifteen year old French boy named Cornier.  Roulet was feeble-minded beggar suffering from epilepsy.  He confessed to the murder and tried, unsuccessfully, to implicate his own brother John and cousin Julien.  The court of Judge Pierre Hérault condemned him to death in 1598 but rescued at the last moment by the Paris parliament and confined to the insane asylum of St. Germain-des-Pres.
