Thurston, Francis Wayland

The Call of Cthulhu, as published in Weird Tales, 11, No. 2 (Feb. 1928, had the footnote subtitle: "(Found among the Papers of the Late Francis Wayland Thurston, of Boston)."  This might indicate the narrator's name.
