By this Rule Salomon obtained great wisdom from ye cheefe Angells that governe ye four Altitudes of ye world for you must observe there be four Altitudes, representing ye four corners of ye world, East, West, North and South. Ye which are divided into twelve parts, that is, every part or Altitude into three, and ye Angells of every of these altitudes have their particulars vertues & powers, as shall be shewed in this following matter &c c c.

Make ye Almadel of pure white wax, but colloured sutable to ye altitude; it is to be four Squares, and six Inches every way; & in every corner a hole & write betwixt every hole with a new pen, These words or names of god, following, but this is to be done in ye daye & houre of Sol.  Write upon ye first part towards ye East, Adonaij, Helomi, Pine, & upon ye second towards ye South, Helion, Heloi, Heli, & upon ye West part: Jod, Hod, Agla: & upon ye fourth part which is ye North write these names:  Tetragrammaton, Shadai, Jah, & betwixt ye first & ye other quarters make ye Pentacle of Salomon thus  , & betwixt ye first & other quarters write this word, Anabona and in ye midle of ye Almadel make a Six Angled figure and in ye middest of it a Triangle wherin must be written these names of god, Hell, Helion, Adonaij, & this last name round in ye six Angled figure, as you may see in this figure, here made it being for an example &c.

And of ye same wax there must be made four Candles, & they must be of ye same collour as ye Almadel is of. you must divide ye wax into three parts, one part for to make ye Almadel of, & ye other two parts for to make ye candles of, & let there come forth from every one of them a foot made of ye same wax, for to suporte ye Almadel with;  This being done: in ye next place you are to make a seal of pure gold or silver, but Gold is best wherein must be engraven these three names: Helion, Hellujon, Adonai; &c c.

Nota. Ye first Altitude is called Chora Orientis or ye East Altitude & to make an experiment in this Chora, it is to be done in ye daye & houre of ye Sun: & ye power & office of those Angells is to make all things fruitfull & encrease, both Animals & vegetables, in creation & generation; advancing ye Birth of ye children & makeing barren women fruitfull, &c. Their names are those. vizt, Alimiel, Gabriel, Borachiel, Lebes & Hellison;

Note: you must not pray for any Angells but those that belong to ye same Altitude, you have a desier to call forth. & when you operate, set ye four candles upon four candle sticks, but be carefull you doe not light them before you begin to operate, then lay ye Almadel between ye four candles upon ye waxen feet that cometh from ye candles & lay ye golden seal upon ye Almadel, & haveing ye Invocation redy written on virginis Parchment: Light ye Candles & read ye Invocation as is set down at ye latter end of this part &c c.

And when he appeareth, he appeareth in ye form of an Angell carrying in his hand a fan or flagg, having ye picture of a white cross upon it, his body is wrapped round about with a fair cloud, & his face very fair & bright, & a Crown of Rose flowers [is] upon his head: he descends first upon ye superscription of ye Almadel as if it were a Mist or Fogg.  Then must ye Exorcist have in readyness a vessell of Earth of ye same collour of ye Almadel is of, & ye other of his furniture, it being in ye form of a Basin, & put therein a few hot ashes or coales but not too much lest it should melt ye wax of ye Almadel, & put therein three little grains of Masticke in powder, so that it fumeth and ye smell may goe upwards threw ye holes of ye Almadel when it is under it, & as soon as ye angell smells it he beginneth to speake with a low voice asking what your desier is and why you have called ye princes & governers of his Altitude. then you must Answer him, saying,

I desire that all my requests may be granted, & what I pray for may be ccomplished, for your office maketh appeare & declareth that such is to be fullfild by you if it pleases god, &c,

adding further ye particulars of your Requests praying with sincerity [and] ^humility for what is lawfull and Just & that you shall indeed obtain from him:

But if he doth not appear presently, you must then take ye golden seal, & make with it three or four marks upon ye candles, by which means ye angell will presently appeare as aforesaide: and when ye Angell departeth he will fill ye whole place with a sweet & pleasant smell which will be smelt a long time.

Nota. Ye golden seal will serve & is to be used in ye operation of all ye Altitudes.  Ye Collour of ye Almadel belonging to ye first Chora is lilly white. To ye second Chora a Perfect red Rose Collour; Ye third Chora is to be a green mixt with white silver collour.  Ye Fourth Chora is to be a black mixt with a little green of a sadd collour &c c c c c.

Of ye second Chora or Altitude:

Nota.  all ye other three Altitudes with their signes & princes have power over goods [146v] & riches, and can make any man Rich or poor, & as ye first Chora giveth Encrease & maketh fruitfull, so these giveth decrease & Barrenness, &c c c c c.

And if any have a desire to operate in any of ye other three Choras or Altitudes, they must doe it on Sundays in ye manner as above is shewed; But doe not pray for anything that is contrary to ye nature of their office, or against god and his laws, but what God giveth according to ye course of nature, that you may desier & obtaine, & all ye furniture that is to be used is to be of ye same collour as ye Almadel is of, & ye princes of this second Chora are named as Followeth Vizt: Alphariza, Genon, Geror, Armon, Gereinon [Gereinin] &c.

and when you operate kneel before ye Almadel with cloathes of ye same collour in a closet hung with ye same collours allso, for ye holy apparation will be of ye same collour: & when he is appeared, put ye earthen Basin under ye Almadel with fire & hott ashes & three graines of Mastic in poweder to fume as above written, & when ye Angell smelleth ye perfume, he turneth his face towards you, asking ye Exorcist with a low voyace why he called ye princes of this Chora or Altitude, then you must answer as before; saying: I desire that my Request may be granted, & ye contents thereof may be accomplished, for your offices maketh appear & declareth that such is to be done by you if it pleases god, &c: you must not be fearfull but speak humbly saying &c: I recomend my selfe wholy into your office, & I pray unto your princes of this Altitude that I may enjoy my wishes & desiers, &c: you may further express your mind in all particulars in your prayer &c. doe ye like in ye two other Choras that follow &.c.

Ye Angell of this second Altitude appears in ye form of a young childe with clothes of sattin & of a Red Rose collour, haveing a crown of Red gilly flowers upon his head, his face looking upwards to heaven, & is of a Red Collour & is compassed round about with a Bright splendour, as ye Beams of ye Sunn; and before he departeth he speaks to ye Exorcist, saying I am your friend & brother, & Illuminateth ye ayre round above with splendour, and pleasant smell, which lasteth a long time, &c c c c c.

of ye third Chora or Altitude

In this Chora you are to doe in all things as you are before directed in ye other Two. Ye  Angells of this Altitude are named as foll: vizt Eliphamasai, Gelomiros, Gedobonai, Saranana, & Elomnia; They appeare in ye form of children or little women drest in green & silver collours, very delightfull to behold, & a crown of Bay leaves, beset with Flowers of white & green collours upon their heads & they seeme to look a little downwards with their faces, &c. They speak as ye others doe to ye Exorcist & leave a mighty, sweet perfume behind them, &c c c c c c.

Of ye fourth Chora or Altitude

In this Chora you must doe as in ye other, and ye Angells of this Chora are called Barchiel, Gediel, Gabiel, Deliel, & Captiel. &c. These appeare in ye forme of little men or Boys with cloathes of a Black collour, mixt with a darke green & in their hands they hold a Bird which is naked & their heads are Beare, only it is compassed round & [147r] Besett with Ivy Berries. They are all very beautifull & comely & are compassed round with a Bright shineing of diveres col;ours. They leave a sweet smell behinde them allso; but differeth from ye others something &c c c c c.

Nota:  There are twlelve princes rulling besides those in ye four Altitudes, & they distribute their offices amongst themselves, every one rulling thirty dayes every yeare, now it will be in vain to call any of those Angells unless it be those that then governeth, For every Chora or Altitude, hath its limited time according to ye twelve signs of ye Zodiack & in that signe ye Sunn is in.  That Angell or those angells that belong to that signe have ye government: as for Example; suppose I would call ye two first of those five that belong to ye first Chora, Then chuse ye first Sunday on March: that is after ye Sun is entred [Aries], & then I make my Experiment; & so doe ye like if you will ye next Sunday after againe; But if you will call ye two second that belong to ye first Chora, Then you must take ye Sundays that are in Aprill, after ye [Sun] is entered [Taurus]. But if you call ye last of ye 5th, Then you must take those Sundays that are in May after ye [Sun] is entered [Gemini}; to make your Experiment in; doe ye like in ye other Altitudes, for they have all one way of working: But ye Altitudes have a Name formed severally in ye substance of heaven even as a Character, for when ye Angells hear ye names of god that are attributed to them they hear it by ye vertue of that carecter. Therefore it is in vain to call any angell or spirit unless you knew what names of god to call them by; Therefore observe ye forme of this Following conjuration, or Invocation &c c c c c.

Ye Invocation

O thou great mighty & blessed angell of god, N, who ruleth as ye cheefe & first governing angell in ye first Chora or Altitude in ye East, under ye great prince of ye East whom you obey, & is sett over you as king by ye divine power of god, Adonai, Helomi, Pine; who is ye distributter & disposer of all things, holly in heaven & Earth and hell; I ye servant of that god Adonai, Helomi, Pine; which you obey, doe Invocate, Conjure & entreat thee N. that thou forthwith appeareth, & by ye vertue & power of ye same god, [Adonai, Helomi, Pine], I doe command thee forth [by him whom you do obey & who is set over you as king by ye divine power of God, that you forthwith descend] ffrom thy order or plase of abode to come into me, and shew thy selfe plainly & visibly here before me in this Cristall stone, in thy owne & proper shape & glory speaking with a voice intelligible and to my understanding: O thou mighty & blessed angell N, who art by ye power of god ordained to governe all vegetables & Animalls, & causeth them, & all other creatures of god to spring, encrease, & bring forth according to their kinds & natures; I ye servant of ye same your god I doe entreat & humbly beseech thee to come & shew unto me all things that I shall desiere of you, so farr as in office you can, or be capable to perform, if god permitt to ye same; O thou servant of mercy N, I entreat thee, & humbly beseech thee, in & by these three names of your true god, Adonai, Helomi, Pine, & doe constraine you in & by this name Anabona, That thou forthwith appeareth vissibly and plainely in thy own proper shape & glory in & throwgh this Cristall stone; That I may visibly see Thee, & audibly hear you speake unto me, That I may have thy blessed & [147v] Glorious angellicall assistance; familiar, friendship, & constant society, communication & Instruction, both now & at all other times, to Informe & rightly Instruct me in my Ignorant & depraved Intellect Judgement & understanding; & to assist me both herein, & in all other truths, else what ye Almighty Adonai, ye King of Kings, Ye giver of all good gifts, shall in his Bountifull, & Fatherly Mercy be graceously pleased to bestow upon me; Therefore O thou blessed angell N. be friendly unto me, & doe for me, so farr as god hath given you power in office to performe, whereunto I move you in power & presence to appeare That I may sing with his holy Angells, O Mappa-la-man! Hallelujah amen.

When he is appeared, give him or them a kind entertainement, & then Aske what is Just & lawfull; & that which is proper & suetable to his office, & you shall Obtaine it.

So endeth ye Booke Almadel of Solomon. &c.
