STRANGE AEONS

This British Heavy Metal - Lovecraft fanzine is already famed for being almost impossible to find. Even among the local heavy metal scene in Britain. You can't even subscribe.  Well, that was when this quest was started... Today, check out http://darkest.www7.50megs.com/poi27.htm for the newsletter of The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets you'll find this:

"One of the best underground zines that I've seen in all of Cthulhudom, perhaps because it satisfies my lust for purdy pictures, is Calum Iain's  strange AEONS. Featured in it's past 5 issues are passionately drawn comic adaptations of HPL's "The Statement of Randolph Carter," "Beyond the Wall of Sleep," "The Doom That Came to Sarnath" &"The Tomb." Add to that 'Creeping Celluloid' (a regular column analyzing Lovecraft inspired films), 'From Beyond' (eclectic reviews), occasional poetry & fiction, and other insightful articles, strange AEONS is a steal for just $5. sA  is 30 pages and is looking for submissions (so all you Innsmouthians whut been pestering me to run your fiction & poetry in TPOI--here you are!). strange AEONS, via Mythos Books, 218 Hickory Meadow Lane, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901-2160 tel: (573) 785-7710, email:dwynn@ldd.net (VISA,MC,AX okay) or (in the UK) at strange AEONS, 1 Brookside, Clachamish, Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland, IV51 9NY. "Comprising mostly of an adaptation of HP Lovecraft's story, The Tomb. The art is a little stiff, but its brooding linework captures Lovecraft's menace. (MK) 5"

"The main item in this issue of Calum Iain MacIver's H. P. Lovecraft 'zine is his adaptation of the horror master's short story Celephais. It's a nice piece of work, the darkly crosshatched lines and delicately traced embellishments matching the shadows and light of Lovecraft's prose effectively."

Strange Aeons #14
"Itís a delight to behold one of the most professional fan zines in the UK today. With none other than supernatural supremo HP Lovecraft scripting, Calum Iain MacIver uses panel arrangements to enforce dimensions. A number of years ago, Caliber covered "The House In The Picture", these manuscripts become maps, illumination for the soul. MacIverís rendering of this strip is religiously and respectfully faithful, reconstruction articulate. marvel as He Works The Page. Emphasisation of putrid boils (alerts by shade) mark boundaries with medusa weave, good measure.
""The Picture In The House" artcraft, is well wicked and demands your attention scholar lover. This is classic mass cartooning , and just the first ten pages. Complementing this opening salvo the zine is chocfull of Lovecraft-related writings: film reviews, film festival and zine reportage, and a thorough comprehensive article on Ditko and leeís Dr. Strange. Highly Highly Recommended. 32 pages, A4 size, costs £2 plus p&p. From Calum Iain MacIver, 1 Brookside, Clachamish, Porttree, Isle Of Skye, Scotland, IV51 9NY. Telephone 01470 582 203 or email strange.aeons@tinyworld.co.uk for more information."
